This is a very pretty ART NOUVEAU Sauce Tureen or open bowl made of glazed earthenware pottery, decorated in the Tulip Pattern by Keeling & Co., Burslem, Staffordshire, England in the late 19th century, Circa 1887.
The piece is well potted on a low foot, with two side handles. This is a very In-Period Art Nouveau earthenware pottery open Sauce Tureen decorated in the cobalt blue Tulip Pattern on a white glaze with additional hand gilding to the handles and the upper rim. The decoration shows stylised tulips in a sinuous organic floral pattern which is so characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. The piece is fully marked to the base, with the blue printed Keeling & Co mark, showing K & Co. B , Late Mayers, & England.. It also has the pattern name: Tulip and the registered design number of 86376 depicting a date of Circa 1887.
Overall, a delightful sauce tureen or open bowl from the Art Nouveau period of the late 19th Century.
