This is a solid bronze figurine of a young Girl with a blindfold playing Hide and Seek, which we attribute to the Italian sculptor Giuseppe Ferrari ( Ferrara , 1804 - Ferrara , 1884 ) this piece being made in the last quarter of the 19th Century

The figure is beautifully sculpted with very good detail, having a lovely depth of color which is difficult to capture in a photograph. The bronze is very well patinated showing a lighter color to the high points of the figure where it has been handled and polished over the years.

The base is signed on the top behind the feet but the signature is not easy to read.

Overall a very well sculpted bronze figure from the 19th century

Giuseppe Ferrari ( Ferrara , 1804 - Ferrara , 1864 ) was an Italian sculptor
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, then moved to Rome in 1830, once again subsidized by the Municipality of Ferrara, studying at the National Academy of San Luca , remaining there for three years working alongside Pietro Tenerani and creating works for the Ferrara Charterhouse . Returning to Ferrara shortly after 1844, in that year he obtained the chair of sculpture at the civic school of art.
