This is a cast bronze metal box modelled as a casket with a wood liner and depicting medieval scenes. We date this box to the late 19th Century.

The box is made of a cast metal (bronze) shaped in the form of a rectangular casket with small feet to the base and a hinged lid riveted to the main body. The inside has a hardwood liner. The lid is well decorated with eight individual medieval court scenes possibly depicting the court of Henry 111rd of England who reigned from 1216 to 1272.

This piece would make a good desk or Jewellery box
