Description

This is a very beautifully hand painted Chinese porcelain "Famille Verte" Plate, dating to the late 17th Century Qing Kangxi period ( 1662-1722).
This is a well potted plate, fairly deep, with a very well cut foot rim and a white glaze.
The plate is very finely hand decorated, over-glaze in a free flowing style, characteristic of the period, in the Famille Verte (green) palette with five colours of green, blue, red , yellow and a mauvy-brown with black outlining, all in varying shades with some gold gilt highlights
The central well is beautifully hand decorated with an iconic scene of two ladies (long eliza''s), one presenting a flower to another, all in an outdoor setting by a verandah, with flowering trees, and other flowers, with a Jardiniere on stand visible through the window. The outer cavetto rim has an 8 section repeated border having four cartouche shaped reserves having insects within, alternating with red & gold flowers, all within a geometric diamond nappy band. The reverse is also finely decorated with eight flowering sprigs around the rim and outer border, the base having a double ring in underglaze blue.
The level of detail is superb.
Overall, a very beautiful, finely hand painted, Famille Verte Kangxi period Plate decorated when the hand painting on Chinese porcelain was at its zenith.
CONDITION
Overall Good / Very good condition for a plate over 300 years old. NO Crisps, No Hairlines. Possible previous professional restoration at the rim. Please see images.
