This is a very good mid to large size pottery Hydra jug or Pitcher made by Doulton & Co of Nile Street, Burslem, Staffordshire, England which we date to the Edwardian period, Circa 1905.
It is hand decorated over a blue printed outline, in an Imari Pattern called Jardinière, which is one of their very decorative chinoiserie designs, that was also used by Mason's Ironstone and Davenport. The hand painted enamels are bold and and bright. Doulton & Co. pieces are generally of higher quality than similar Mason's Ironstone pieces with a more defined pattern.
The jug has the blue printed Doulton mark to the base with a Lion over a crown, as used by them in this period. Overall a good quality antique English pottery Jug or Pitcher for use or display.
