This is a very good hand painted Mason's ironstone large Platter or Meat Plate, in the Fence, Rock and Tree gilded pattern, from their earliest George III rd period, circa 1818.

This is a large platter of "Meat Plate" size proportions. The piece is well potted with an oval shape having a wavy edge with no foot. The side cavetto is embossed (kiln moulded) with a continuous floral leaf design.

It is well hand painted in the recorded chinoiserie pattern called the: Fence, Rock and Tree pattern, showing a large golden flower by a well defined swastika latticed zig-zag fence, with a four section floral sprig border . The pattern is hand enamelled, over-glaze in bold colors of burnt orange, yellow, brown, blue, green, and pink over an under-glaze printed outline, with gold gilding to one side of the vase and part of the edge. This pattern is fully illustrated in Masons pattern book, page 91, published by The Masons Collectors' Club The piece is fully marked to the base with a Mason's single line impressed mark stating: Masons Patent ironstone China, which dates this piece to circa 1818.

Overall a very decorative Large Platter or Meat Dish and in a very decorative, free flowing, hand painted pattern.
