This is a good quality and very decorative Japanese porcelain dish or plate, which we date to the Meiji period, circa 1870.

The dish is well potted on a low foot with a frilled wavy edge.

It is beautifully hand decorated with an eight section radial wheel pattern with cross hatched sections, four grey-blue ones alternating with burnt orange, red & green ones. Within the radial grey-blue areas there are stylised wheels, three to each section. The wheels and the grey section hatching have hand gilded highlights. The reverse is decorated with two blue rings either side of the foot rim and four precious things all in underglaze cobalt blue.

We date this plate to the Meiji period, circa 1870.

Overall a very decorative 19th Century Japanese Dish.
