This is a very interesting small antique original, oil on canvas painting, dating to the mid-19th century.
 
The painting shows a landscape scene of a shanty town of simple buildings, all set in a clearing with woods and high hills in the background, a church at the base of the hill, various people, children and three long washing lines of which one is in the left-hand foreground with a another building by a fenced area in the lower right foreground.
