Description

This is a very beautiful Queen Anne period Walnut Chest, Circa 1690 to 1700
The Chest has two short over three long graduated drawers with matching thick cross grained thumb mouldings to the top and lower edge of the chest at the front and sides. The chest sits on four flattened bun feet.
This chest has superb small proportions and a wonderful colour and patination.
The hand cut figured walnut veneers to the top and drawer fronts have each been carefully chosen to match. The top, sides and drawer fronts are cross banded with feather ( herring bone) banding to the top. The drawers are oak lined, The escutcheons and handles are true to the period but the handles are probably replacements which is normal for a piece of this age. There is evidence of at least one handle change. ( It would be very suspicious if this were not the case).
Excellent small proportions;
Width across top: 35.38 inches
Width across feet: 35.75 inches
Overall a very beautiful early walnut Chest that would grace any home.
Condition
Very Good
Handle changes in its past
Internal Ref: F 434
