This is a very good quality Country Windsor arm chair with a low back, made in England and attributed to a North east Yorkshire maker, in the mid-19th century, or possibly earlier.

This chair has many good features;
1) Excellent naturally patinated rich colour
2) Elaborately carved legs

5) Strong stable construction of excellent proportions.

The chair is a mix of timbers; yew wood to the bent arms, hoop, some spindles and legs

Elm seat, which is normal for all Windsor chairs

Windsor chairs with similar turned leg detail are shown and described in the classic reference book; The English Regional Chair by Bernard D Cotton, published by The Antique Collectors' Club.

The chair is very well proportioned and has an excellent naturally patinated colour and is not over-polished. Very good condition with no breaks
Very usable.
